Application for manifest injustice successful; released on parole

State of NSW v KC

Application for parole for release of SORC offender, State of New South Wales appeared and opposed release to parole, release was allowed by the State Parole Authority of NSW. 

KC was a person convicted of serious sexual offences and sentenced to more than 10 years imprisonment. At the conclusion of KC's non parole period, KC applied for parole and was refused. On the anniversary date, KC again sought parole and was refused. An application for manifest injustice review was made, and a public hearing was granted.

Mr Wright prepared the submissions on behalf of KC, focusing on he legal findings in his matters, including acquittals and conviction reversals, his completion of therapeutic programs, the suitability of his accommodation, and his strong community support and family support. 

The State Parole Authority rejected submissions of the State, and found that the applicant ought to be released on parole.
